About

” Nature held me close and seemed to find
no fault with me.”

Leslie Feinberg

"I hope in reading this you can learn things that might make your journey a little bit safer, and better."

This resource is created for global majority* transgender people who are struggling to access information about transgender healthcare. This resource is so we can be better informed about the healthcare options available to us so we can make the decisions that are safe and right for us when it comes to medically transitioning.

Reflecting on my own journey as a Black trans man in the UK, I found that medical racism and prejudice meant that global majority trans people in the community were being left out of important conversations and not being given the same access to healthcare information that may have improved their care, knowledge, safety and experiences of transitioning.

The site has 2 sections - a Blog in which I talk about how I navigate life as a Black trans man who came out later in life and my experiences of this whilst being part of the Black and Queer community in the UK.

The second section is the trans healthcare resource section.

The resource started off as a place for the community to learn more about health care options to in order to make informed decisions, and better experiences. It includes a list of community spaces dedicated to building community for global majority transgender people, a QTIBIPOC therapy directory- as we understand the importance of looking after ourselves and our mental health alongside seeking affirmative medical care, and top surgery testimonials.

The top surgery testimonials and results gallery is a growing work in progress. If you would like to submit your experience please do so via the submission form.

Finally to all those transgender Black people and POC  who have landed here because they've also felt at breaking point like I did, just remember  Black Trans Lives Matter, you are valid and loved.  I hope in reading this you can learn things that might make your journey a little bit safer, and better.

To any white allies reading this, I hope this can be a resource that is useful to you too, and that you can use this to help make the experiences of your Black trans friends better.

*global majority is a collective term that refers to people who are black, asian, dual heritage, or indigenous to the global South. These groups represent 80% of the worlds population. The Cambridge dictionary describes people of the global majority as the group of people in the world who do not consider themselves, and are not considered to be white.
