About me and why this resource exists

I created this resource for Black and brown *global majority transgender people who are struggling to access information about gender affirming healthcare.

Reflecting on my own journey as a Black trans man in the UK, I found that medical racism and prejudice meant that global majority trans people in the community were being left out of important conversations and not being given the same access to healthcare information that may have improved care, knowledge, safety, and experiences of transitioning.

The resource aims to share community experiences and knowledge helping people be better informed and make decisions that are safe and right for them when it comes to medically transitioning.
"I hope in reading this you can learn
things that might make your journey a
little bit better."

Blog

The site has two sections, the first is The Resource and the second is a blog in where I talk about how I navigate life as a Black trans man who came out later in life and my experiences of this whilst being part of the Black and Queer community in the UK.
The Resource

The resource is made up of shared community driven information and stories by Black and brown people who have navigated the UK health care system seeking gender affirming care.

It includes a top surgery database with recomended surgeons and results photos, Shared Care advice, a QTIBIPOC therapy directory with the understanding of the importance of looking after mental health alongside seeking affirmative medical care, a Gender Affirming Apparel directory including packers, binders, STPs, and so much more.
The Top Surgery Database
A growing database of surgery stories and a results gallery showcasing results on melanated bodeis. It is a growing work in progress. If you would like to submit a photo or story do it via the submission form here.
This isn't goodbye

To anyone who has landed here because they've struggled I hope in using this resource you can learn things that might make your journey a little bit safer and better.
I also hope this can be a resource that is useful to allies for signposting to help make the experiences of your Black trans friends better.
In Solidarity,
Travis
*global majority is a collective term that refers to people who are black, asian, dual heritage, or indigenous to the global South. These groups represent 80% of the worlds population. The Cambridge dictionary describes people of the global majority as the group of people in the world who do not consider themselves, and are not considered to be white.
