"I went to Peter Kneeshaw at the Spire hospital in Hull in March 2023. He was very reassuring throughout and there are also Black medical professionals working at the hospital. As a Black trans person, representation in medical environments is important to me. All of the staff were excellent and accommodating.
He's lovely and made me feel safe and reassured that I was making the best decision for me. He was also very understanding about thinking about moving or cancelling the op, said it was common and talked about it with me. I obviously didn't move the appointment over the Officer's courses clashing but it was nice to talk that through.
They have Black medical staff!
My anesthetist was an older Black woman. She stroked my hand when I went to sleep in theatre. One of the consultants is a Nigerian man. He checked my chest when I complained my nips were hurting. He said the nerves are reconnecting and it's good to have sensation this early in your nips.
I have feeling everywhere in my chest apart from my lats and near the incision lines. My nipples aren't sensitive like they were but I can definitely feel them. The painful zaps that were shooting through them eventually went down on week 2 post op.
I'm very happy with my results and I recommend Mr Kneeshaw for people with darker complexions because he has experience. The results speak for themselves."
